About FSPA


The Florida State Pilots Association is a voluntary organization comprised of all of the individual pilot associations serving the State of Florida in its various ports. It is designed in general to promote good will, provide leadership, coordinate all efforts, and represent member associations on the state level. Its national counterpart, the American Pilots Association, represents the pilot association of some 20 maritime states in very much the same manner.

Included in the general nature of the objects and purposes of the Florida State Pilots Association are:

To encourage its members to perform their functions as pilots in a professional manner.

To cooperate with all federal, state and local governmental authorities and regulatory bodies to the fullest extent possible to preserve life, property, and the environment.

To disseminate information to its members concerning laws and regulations applicable to pilotage in the State of Florida and amendments and modiflcations thereof.

To do all other acts and things and carry on and conduct all other activities necessary, suitable, convenient, useful or expedient in the connection with or incidental to the accomplishment of the purposes and objectives to the full extent permitted by the laws of the State of Florida.

To cooperate with the American PilotsAssociation in the achievement of the objectives on a national level.
